Let me start off with saying I love the concept of the dog monitor. It really is a great way for me to keep my eye on my anxious dog while I’m at work. … However, it doesn’t last very long before it disconnects and won’t let me reconnect without restarting it on the device I leave at home, which completely defeats the purpose.
With a new puppy at home, we were contemplating getting a drop cam and then I stumbled upon this app! Fantastic idea! It’ll also notify me when she’s being loud and can even detect the radio so I don’t constantly notified about background noise. I’m not sure what the issue the previous reviewer had but mine has yet to drop out so I suspect the issue might not have been the app itself. Only downside is you can only use one “person station” at a time, so my boyfriend and I can’t both watch her at the same time :( But it’s a wonderful peace of mind knowing she’s snoozing soundly before we even get to work!
Overall, this is quite a nice little app. You set up an iOS device to spy on your puppies, then connect your mac to it remotely. It will play noises through your mac’s speakers (with an adjustable sensitivity, so you don’t hear every little peep). It also lets you watch via video and speak to the dogs (to correct a barking dog, for example). As a bonus, even though the description says that video only works when 2 devices are on the same wifi network, this is in fact not the case; I can stream live video from home to any other network. Some people may have firewall issues (for example, I can’t connect from work). If you can manage it, this can be solved by routing your traffic through a VPN. My only real complaint is that the iOS client has some nice features that seem to be missing from the mac version, the best of which is the activity log. When you are using 2 iOS devices, the “Person Station” (i.e., the one you are using, not the one that’s with the dogs) will log and record all sounds, so if you step away for a while you can flip through and see if there have been any noises while you were gone. This should absolutely be in the mac version as well! But otherwise, it works quite well and is quite affordable!
Won’t open on mac
The Mac version of this app crashes without opening. I’ve never been able to use it. I need an update that actually works or I need my money back.

If you want a reliable application that allows you to monitor cameras via the internet, look elsewhere. While this app does work as a fun little toy, it tends to crash or time out when one tries to use it for its inteded function. In other words, if you are monitoring your dog from the other room, go for it. If you aren’t home when you need to be monitoring, choose more robust, stable software.

Whait, why do I need to pay for the phone version as well to pair with the computer? It's not cool. Asking for a refund.
Definitely a scam
Apparently the app is really good. The catch is that you have to pay for it at least TWICE in order to use it since it needs to be installed on two devices. No disclaimer about that = SCAM. I paid for it once, I won't buy the second app. The least they could do is allow an inbrowser use or something, instead of milking users.
Works well for separation anxiety but..
Works great for separation anxiety! But it would be great if we could add commands. I use my mac computer as the dog station, and my android phone for my person station. I am unable to add commands, there is no option to add commands anywhere I can find.
Good app but...
Happy that there's an app like this, however you should be made aware that you will have to purchase app twice! One for the device that will be monitoring your dog, and one for your mobile device. Total $10 ($5 ea).
Poor video quality
I am connected to WiFi and have 200mbps up and down on both my laptop and my phone, yet the video is garbage and keeps pausing and dropping out and the app keeps giving me an error saying it's because I'm on 3G/LTE, which I am not. I'll revise my review if this is resolved, but for now this app is a waste of money.
Good, but a couple of things I'd like to see
I like the Dog Station window to be expandable to fill my 13" display. I'd also like the ability to transmit video to the dog station, so they can see my face, but I understand this could be a bandwidth killer.
Voice not working
The app is good to watch our dogs with separation anxiety. Not sure how to make it so I can talk to them if they bark. That was the main reason I bought this app and I cannot use to the two way voice feature.
Works Great!
I purchased the app on my Iphone 6 and for my Ipad Mini to watch and listen to my 12 Yr old Mini Schnauzer. Like many other reviews, my dog seems to get more anxious when he hears my voice through the commands and does not see me. I think the product works well but I have experienced some minor issues. There have been moments that no sound will play while I am monitoring my dog. There is a very small lag in video connection and sound. But overall I think it works well. The quality of the video is clear. I just downloaded the app for my Macbook. Hoping it works just as well.

Update: This feature is an option but ONLY if you use your phone as the dog monitor. Why woudl I leave my phone with my dog and carry my computer around with me? PLEASE make this an option on the computer so I can press a button to give the dog a command at home while I'm out. Gotta lower the stars till that's fix. Makes not sense. This has been very helpful. I espeically like that I can talk to my dog over the monitor. However! Please o pleaes!!!! Add a feature where I can just click and send a pre-recorded sound of my voice, or just a sound that my dog will hear to know he should be quiet or that he's being good. There are times he's barking, but I'm in a meeting or something and can't get away to talk to him over the ap. If I could just tap a button and he hears me say something, that would be AMAZING!!!!

I can't say enough good things about this app. It is great for travel . . ., easy to set up in a new place. On vacation with my dog, wanted to go out and leave him alone, just open the laptop and go! Laptop was already connected to vacation house wifi. I did not stress about needing to hurry back to him as I could see him sleeping all day. I travel a lot. Set up in a new place is the most important thing to me.

Good but...
This app is really nice to be able to see what is going on at home, but very annoying have to buy the app two times, one for my mac and one for my phone. A serious money making scheme from the developers, $10 is a lot to pay for multiple device usability. Also the workarounds they post do not work! It is also a huge drain on the battery for both devices, so be prepared for that if you want to watch all day. I have to leave it plugged in at home. The connection does drop a lot which I could see being a problem for some people that really like to be able to track everything. I do like the feature where you can listen to every noise so I can tell if the noisy notifications are from the dog or traffic. Would recommend with some hesitancy.

We downloaded this app recently and have recommended it to many of our friends. It is easy to use and provides us with new information about our dog when we are away.

Works, but they charge you twice!
It may be $5 for the app, but it’s another $5 to have the other half of the app on your computer. It should know that you downloaded it already and just let you download the counterpart as part of the price. $10 is steep for this product. Also, it works ok, but the connection drops and when it resumes the previous log is gone, so you don’t know how many barks before the reset. It should let you page through the last few logs at least. Lastly, it would be drastically improved wtih a graph as the display rather than a list of “quiet, noisy, quiet, noisy” leaving me to look carefully at how long each period was. In a graph, you’d get it in a glance how long the quiet was, punctuated (or obliterated) by periods of noise. Needs usability improvements.
Terrible.
The networking aspect of this app is terrible. Rarely can you pull up video on the first try. I feel as though I was ripped off. $5 I’ll never see again. It is a great idea - it just fails in execution.

Amazing!
This is the first app i’ve bought and i don’t regret it for a second. This app allows me to set my macbook up and watch my chocolate lab while we are out and about. We put him a crate and usually within five minutes of us leaving he tries to get out but then I tell him no and to lay down and it calms him down immediately. This app has saved us so many times. Also it has helped out puppy with his seperation anxiety.

NOT HAPPY
Set up and pairing is NOT easy and does NOT take 30 seconds. I would consider myself proficent with current technology and I had trouble linking devices. Mainly because I was confused on how to get the app on the second device. Well, turns out you have to pay twice. And after recently upgrading my phone I have to pay again!! BS
Works Great
I originally purchased app for my iPhone and iPad and have had no problems with it other than battery life of my iPad, which seems to stay on for the entire time (need to check settings). I plug it in now if will be away for extended time. I recently purchased the App for the Mac and it works great as well. Now if I want to take the iPad with me I can still monitor the dogs/house with my Mac. I have had no issues with crashing, the apps open every time for both iOS and OX. Using most current updates for both operating systems. Sometimes I may be in a cellular dead zone and cannot connect but once I am in a good signal area all is well again and that is no fault of the Apps. Have recommended to my friends with pets

Not happy
I purchased the program, I was charged twice, once for the dog station and once for the person station. I recently upgraded my phone, and now I have to pay again to use my phone as the person station. This is not right.

This a great app. I love using it and have no complaints. No I can tell when my puppy is shedding crocodile tears (fake winning) or genuinely in trouble. Sure the vedio doesn’t work everywhere, atleast the audio does! Yes it would be nice if there could be a log that would record all the activity if one had to step away from the person station. All in all … great

Paid for it but it wont open
I paid for the app on both my iPhone and my Mac… the version on my iPhone opens and starts the setup process but when i paid for the app on my Mac and tried opening it to further the setup process….it wont open… says there is a problem. I tried to contact the TippyTap peeps but it wont send my email either….totally frustrated and out money!
